Thanks for joining us. Take a look around and check out the new features in the user control panel, the FAQ and all the other parts of the board. One such new thing is the "Current Weather" box on the front page. Click on the Zip Code link to enter your zip code and preferred background style for that box. You can find the different codes and images for the backgrounds in the FAQ here. (http://www.checkersfan.com/forum/faq.php?faq=checkerboard_faq#faq_faq_weather_codes)

Most all of the BB codes are the same as ezBoard's "ezCodes". These are the tags you put in the "[ ]". Notable differences are "[link]" which is now "[url]" and "[quote]" which will take a user name to show who posted the original text. The syntax for that is "[quote=UserName]".

We have a host of new smilies on this board. However, you will only see 20 of them in the post editor. To see more smilies, click the "[More]" link below the last smilie and it will open a window exposing ALL smilies. Just click the one you want and it will be inserted into the post editor, usually where your cursor is positioned.

vBulletin has a MUCH better search engine than ezBoard. We encourage you to use that feature to see if someone has already posted information you are looking for or if there is already a discussion going on a topic you wish to comment on.

There is also a feature which will allow you to follow specific threads of interest. You can "subscribe" to threads and have the board notify you when someone has replied to the thread.

The navigation bar offers you some nice features on most every page. The Quick Links allow you to perform specific tasks easily. The new chat program is also here.

These are just a FEW of the new features here. It's a lot to take in all at once, so the best way to get familiar with the new board is to explore. Have at it!

As with all new things, unexpected occurences are bound to come up. Please bear with our growing pains. This is (as all websites are) a work in progress. There may be some changes along the way. But remember, we're all in this together and the administration team will do the best we can to ensure you the best experience possible. If you have questions check the FAQ (on the navigation bar) to see if it is answered there. If it's not, or you have suggestions or general comments about the board, please post them in the Q & A forum. This board is your board and we want to hear from you.

Again, WELCOME to the NEW Checkerboard. We're glad you're here!

There are still 11 people that need to click the link in the email. If you're not seeing everything, that's why.

Thanks guys for letting me join the group. Even if I am from the enemy. I'm originally from NC. Does that count? Hey, I have a question for some oldies but goldies. Does anybody remember Gaye Cooley? The goalie from the 70's that didn't wear a mask. I can't hardly imagine that now. I know, I'm showing my age. I used to watch the Checkers when John Brophy played. I was a Generals season ticket holder. Please don't hold that against me. I did move!!!!

If there was someone better between the pipes than Gaye Cooley, I would like to know who he is. The only one I think that comes close was the Gens Pete McDuffie.
