I wondered that - - and asked the end zone card holders - and they said it is a secret promotion. Well - - thru the ability to Google Stuff - - here is what I found:

SunCom launches unlimited service
SunCom Wireless Holdings Inc. is starting a service that enables customers to make unlimited calls to 10 friends, regardless of which wireless provider they use.
The Mobile-to-Anyone feature is an industry first, says Emilio Echave, the company's senior vice president of operations.
SunCom has been running unbranded billboard, TV and newspaper ads throughout its Carolina franchise areas recently that ask, "Who will your 10 be?" hoping to spur interest in the product.
The service costs an extra $10 per month for SunCom regional calling plan customers, or an extra $15 per month for national calling plan customers.
The 10 numbers chosen can be anywhere in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Callers must be in their plan's coverage area when making or receiving a call for it to count in the new program.
SunCom thinks the service will help it distinguish it from larger industry rivals Cingular Wireless, Verizon Wireless and others, Echave says.
"We're not going to outspend them," he says. "We're trying to say, look, they might have 50 million (subscribers), but we have the 10 that you really want."
Research shows wireless customers typically make most of their calls to five or six individuals, Echave says.
Pennsylvania-based SunCom (NYSE:TPC) provides cellular service in the Carolinas and Puerto Rico. Charlotte is the company's largest metro market.

i got it last week, just didnt know anyone else was wondering what it was. I looked at the source code of www.whowillyourtenbe.com and it uses the same style sheet for all of the suncom websites. (sorry, im a wanna be web nerd sometimes.)
I agree that they arent the best phone company, but they do a lot for the Checkers so I don't mind em. They are always bringing groups in and doing promotions for the good guys. So i say if this brings in a few more fans Im cool with it. As long as they stay in their seats, cheer for our guys, BLAH BLAH BLAH....

Before I switched to Cingular GSM, I had AT&T which was run by SunCom here all along. Their service was MUCH better than Cingular's. I would have stayed with SunCom after the merger, but they didn't offer a national plan at the time. Of course, within 6 months of my switching, they began to offer a national plan. I pay $39.99 a month for my plan. But, when my bill comes, it's $50 and change! I have NEVER gone over my monthly minutes--it's all those damn fees that SunCom talks about being included.
When it's all said and done, SunCom is a much better deal. I would save $120 a year on fees alone! When my 2 years are up, I'll be taking another look at them.

My cell is issued by work, but I had the same deal you did Chex. When AT&T merged with Cingular and got bought out by SunCom (or whatever the hell happened), they split the Charlotte market between the two. They call each side the Orange and Blue sides. While I got a brand new Blackberry out of the split, they moved me to Cingular and the service does suck. AT&T aka SunCom was much better.

Amen to that... My friend in Greensboro has SunCom and she has to stand by a window when she is in her house to get any reception.

Looks like their promotion worked. It has its own thread. Sprint sucks.
