Help, where do I find the forum for "Players signing overseas". It used to be on the other board but I can't find it here. I just found out through the grapevine that one of my favorite players has signed in Europe and want to see if the information has gotten this far. I really don't want to believe it.. First Brandon Dietrich and now this.... HELP!!!!! I need to move to Europe.

I need to move to Europe.
You and me both! I LOVE Europe.

You will find that information in the "etc." forum. However, if it is a former Checker player, it could be in the "Where are they now?" forum.

Thanks for the info. I found who I was wondering about. Travis Lisabeth. It was rumored that he was going to quit and go back to college. I guess the money was too good to quit now. Also, I'm kinda confused (it doesn't take much), but it says that Joe Bourne and Jimmy Jackson signed with Kauf. Germany and they had already signed with Gwinnett. What gives? I'm actually a Gladiator season ticket holder but their forum is only open to Booster Club members. Whatever!!!!! You guys have all the good information. I also post on the Mississippi board.

Well, sometimes a player will sign with a European team but never play for them. It can be used as a bargaining chip to stay with a team here in the states, but get more money. If the player is good, sometimes it works. Sometimes their old team doesn't want to, or can't afford to pay what the player is asking, so they end up not playing for the team they wanted. In other cases, such as the 2 you mentioned, they may have signed first with the Glads, but then got better offers to play in Germany. They may end up taking the German offer as it's widely known that a player can make a lot more money in Europe than here. So, if a player doesn't have much chance of making it to a higher league here, then a European offer may be his best bet as far as the money goes--especially as he gets older and closer to veteran status.

Welcome to the board and thanks for the kind words. However, we have another Glads board listed in the FAQ that I don't think is restricted to BC members. Digitalfrost is also a Glads fan. BTW, feel free to use our Gladiators avatar!

Maybe it's just down during the offseason. i will try again during the season. Thanks for the info. I've been in hockey all my life but never really got involved in knowing all the ins and outs about signing players. It's pretty interesting how the bargaining goes. I heard from the Mississippi board that Lisabeth promised his mother before she died that he would go to college. Seems he can do both in Europe and make alot of money too. Good for him!!!! I'll just have to find another player to watch. Thanks again.

Most definitely not. I think we're probably going to re-open our board to the public in the next couple of days (after a private board hiatus). I'll post the link when it's official...

Another great place to go is eurohockey.net for European transactions.
