Cell phone access

Is it and/or would it be possible for you guys to make a forum or whatever solely for text access from cell phones, pda, etc? Basically if someone would update the scores every once in a while on game nights there and if it has a relatively easy url that would be great for people trying to keep up with the team when they are away from the computer or can't use teamline for whatever reason.

It is possible. I'll look into it. In the meantime, if you go to http://www.thecheckerboard.com/forum/archive/index.php from your phone (it works in a regular browser also) you will get a stripped down version of the board. If you click on the PDA link in the upper right hand corner of the first page that comes up you should be able to browse the site easier. Note that in this mode you will lose a lot of functionality (posting is one of them) but you should be able to keep up on the new posts.

Give that a try and let us know how that works out. In the meantime I'll try and track down a more full-featured PDA friendly theme.

Got this in e-mail today...haven't tried it but this might help a lil' with the scores...


PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL announced on Tuesday that fans can now access game scores, game summaries and league standings on their cellular telephone and wireless devices at http://wap.echl.leaguestat.com/.

The “Wireless Application Protocol” site is a plain text miniature version of the statistics information available on the official web site at www.ECHL.com which is formatted to fit on a smaller screen.

In addition to the current day’s games, fans have the ability to see scores from the previous day as well as the schedule for the upcoming day and there is a link to the league standings.

I can get there from my Sprint PCS phone......its not pretty...but at least I can make out the score

I checked it out...not too bad but gotta consider it was on a cell phone. You can get league standings and the game score by period with pp's and shots. I guess it's better than nada.
