BAHENSKY, KENNY SMITH SENT TO HARTFORD
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced today that forward Zdenek Bahensky (pictured) was recalled by the Hartford Wolf Pack, of the American Hockey League, and defenseman Kenny Smith was loaned to Hartford.
Bahensky, 21, has skated in 48 games with the Checkers this season registering eight goals, 13 assists and 96 penalty minutes. The rookie has played 10 games with the Wolf Pack with one assist and two penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2-inch, 195-pounder from Most, Czech Republic was a third round pick by the New York Rangers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft (73rd overall).
Smith, 25, has skated in 53 games with the Checkers notching eight assists and 79 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2-inch, 210-pounder from Stoneham, Mass. is in his third professional season after playing four years at Harvard University. Smith was member of the 1998-99 and 1999-00 U.S. Jr. National Teams. Smith was a third round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft (84th overall).
