The product of Michigan State University, Jared played with both the Idaho Steelheads and Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League last season.
Nightingale, 6’3", 195 lbs, hails from Cheboygan, Michigan. He started his pro career with the Springfield Falcons (AHL) in the 2005-06 season after spending four seasons with the Spartans where he accumulated 161 PIM’s in 156 collegiate games.
Head Coach Derek Wilkinson says that the defenseman brings aggression to the ice, “Jared is a physical, two-way defenseman with great character. He is a terrific addition to our defense.”
Nightingale’s brother, Adam, was a member of the Checkers team last season. Adam and his wife now reside in Charlotte where Adam will be taking on a yet-to-be determined role within the organization.
