Gwinnett, G.A. – The Checkers wanted to keep their perfect road record of the season in tact during the final battle of a three game road swing against the Gwinnett Gladiators.
In the first period, the home team got on the board first when Lou Dickenson fired a shot that beat Checkers netminder, Miika Wiikman at 3:18. Later, as Checkers forward, Kaleb Betts made his way out of the box for slashing, Gladiators forward, Andy Brandt got in position to blast a one-timer behind Wiikman at 14:48 giving the Gladiators a two-goal lead after twenty minutes.
The Checkers would come within one goal when sporting a two-man advantage, Bruce Graham directed a bad-angle shot towards the goal and it bounced behind Gladiators goalie, Craig Kowalski at 14:52 and slashed the Checkers deficit to 2-1.
