How come we don't have access to add to the calendar?
The calendar seems to be a slightly different animal from the rest of vBulletin. Originally, I had intended to allow anyone to post calendar events. However, there doesn't seem to be any kind of designation where one can make an event "private". The permissions for the calendar only allow for people to see other's posts or see nothing. That included admins--we can't post events and have you all see them unless we allow everyone to "see other's events".

So, for the "protection" of the members, I decided to not allow this feature because I didn't want someone adding all their personal events to the calendar and then we all be able to see them.

I have another option or two that I am willing to investigate. PM me and sell me on the idea. Fair enough?
