Where do the intermission game contestants come from as well as the zamboni riders? Are they picked out of the crowd by promotions people?

Riders are pre-selected I believe. Intermission contestants are crowd picked, unless it's something like the curling or wiener dogs that require a "specialist," so to speak.

Occasionally you will be able to enter for a chance at the Zamboni rides through one of the sponsors on the concourse. Saturday, Filters Fast was entering people. The table wasn't in the "main entrance" though. Kind of off to the side near 103 where they sell lottery tickets. Basically, check the information igloo and other tables on the concourse for contests. Some contests you enter ahead of time online.

it also depends on the mood of the FO staff, in the past you could ask your ticket rep a few weeks in advance if daughter/son/friend could ride on xxxxx date because it was their b-day and fine they could. other times, if you made a donation to Checkmate Charity. Same story on the big screen to list b-day's, sometimes no problem, sometimes a donation is required.....

Scoreboard annoucements are a $25 donation:

http://gocheckers.com/gameday/accouncements/

For a donation of $25 to the Checkers charitable foundation, Checkmate Charities, fans can put a greeting on the center hung scoreboard during the game. These birthday wishes, happy anniversaries and other announcements are run once a game during a break in the action.

If you would like for your special announcement to run on the scoreboard, contact the Community Relations department at 704-444-1876 at least 48 hours prior to the game.

I still think this is a rip-off. STHs should get at least one announcement for free (actually not free but it's already been paid for, right?).

I agree with you. I could see them asking for, but not requiring, a donation. If you would like to donate, you can would be betetr than being required to for STH's.

Now if I wanted something on there - not currently being a STH - I can understand the $25. It being a donation would make me more willing to pay for it too.

again, as I said, it depends on who you talk to in the front office and the way the wind is blowing. Sometimes they "require" the donation and others not.....

I agree with you Gonzo, 1 announcement a season per STH wouldn't be too much....

Maybe somebody in the FO saw my questions on the MB! Just got a call, and I'll be "Coach for the Day" on 3/30. Woo hoo!
